Due to the generosity of a local prototyping engineer, we have been outfitted with a functional ZCorp 3D Printer. We already are enthusiasts and developers for 3D printing, and the community spirit of open-source movements like Reprap, and we would like to invite the public to come and learn how to use the machine! We’ve wrangle the members of Open Lab Idaho into becoming the technicians who get it running smoothly. We’ll be hosting our first Raising Makers youth program on July 14th, 2012 from 10am to 12pm. We’ll be introducing the attendees to different ways that you can use 3D modeling software to build designs and print them with machines of both hand built commercial quality. Anyone who is of school age, 6-18 may attend.
Community resources like Thingiverse and open-source software programs have made many great opportunities for us to make things in a way befitting the 21st century, and now is the time to raise our next generation of makers! If you have a young person who would like to attend, please contact us and we’ll put you on the list. There is no cost to attend the Raising Makers event.
