Build an Arduino Musical Device, 12/06, noon – 2:30pm
Did you know you can make music with an old 3.5” floppy drive?! And that you could program drives with an Arduino to play complex music?
Here’s a fairly advanced – and really cool – example of what we’re talking about.
In this 2.5 hour workshop, participants will leverage Arduinos and repurposed floppy drives to learn to manipulate the hardware to create musical sounds and play songs. Students will learn the basics of Arduino and stepper motors, how the Arduino drives the motor and how to write code to make it do so. We’ll also learn to integrate basic MIDI and Java for music playback.
Participants should bring a laptop (PC, Mac, Linux) for programming purposes. All other hardware (Arduino, drive, power supply, cables, etc.) is included for you to take home and continue making music, or do whatever else you like with your Arduino! Recommended for ages 12 to adult.
This is a great introduction to the power of Arduino. Register now to reserve your spot!
