Intro to Structural Engineering with BroncoWorks and Sage International School
It’s the Marshmallow Challenge! This fun, team-oriented exercise is frequently a young student’s first exposure to structural engineering. Given only a rudimentary set of building materials to work with, each team is tasked with building the tallest structure possible that will support a marshmallow at the top. In subsequent rounds the students receive additional materials, as well as an opportunity to get instruction from college engineering students and a chance to develop plans and drawings before beginning execution. There is a lot of opportunity for learning and there are always some interesting structures built during this exercise.
This event is open to the Sage International School after-school program and is otherwise not open to the public.
